Match report

Preview:

Defeat on the road last time out meant that Ewell desperately needed a win to end their malaise and to kick start their league campaign once again, having failed to collect a league win since the opening day of the season.

The Match:

10

GOAL

Tanous. Assist: Crawford. Ewell take an early and deserved lead following some patient passing football. The move culminates in Crawford delivering the ball to the back post where Tanous is on hand to volley home.

26

CHANCE

Kingshott is picked out at the back post from a Ewell corner but he diverts his header wide of the goal.

32

GOAL

Ewell concede an equaliser after the visitors execute a swift break.

HALF TIME – AFC Ewell 1 vs AFC Hamsey Rangers 1

65

CHANCE

Dunseath surges forward and sends a shot narrowly wide.

78

GOAL

Victor. Assist: Williams. Williams strides out from defence and finds himself on the right wing. Eager to avoid parting with a fiver at the Christmas Social, he delivers an inviting cross that is bundled home by Victor, who opens his account in the process.

FULL TIME – AFC Ewell 2 vs AFC Hamsey Rangers 1

The verdict:

A late rally from Ewell proved to be enough to earn them a valuable and much needed 3 points. A lack of clear cut chances at both ends was anomalous given that both teams controlled the ball the well and found themselves in promising positions. However, Ewell remained patient and, buoyed by the reinforcements at their disposal, managed to get themselves over the finishing line.
