Ewell came into this fixture off the back of a strong display against Old Boys Clapham, even if the score line failed to reflect the dominance they demonstrated for most of the game. Hodge finds himself in space deep in the Crescent Rovers half, but rather than going for goal himself, he squares for Bullock. Unfortunately for Ewell, the attack fizzles out.

For the second consecutive week, Ewell’s early dominance counts for little as Crescent Rovers claw themselves back into the game, having hardly been allowed to have a kick in the opening 15 minutes or so.

Hitch retrieves the ball for Ewell and frees Harley, but the striker’s heavy first touch allows a recovering defender to make a last-gasp tackle.

Hodge. Assist: Harley. Static defending from the visitors allows Ewell to retake the lead with a well-worked goal. Harley drifts into space down the right flank and produces a measured cross for Hodge to nod home from the 6-yard box.

Immaculate handling from Clark despite the difficult conditions means that Ewell are able to keep out the visitors after they are awarded a free-kick in a dangerous area.

Sear. Assist: Webster. Sear kills the contest with what proves to be virtually the final kick of the game. After collecting the ball from Webster, his skidding effort from the edge of the box finds the corner of the net.
