The verdict:
Whilst Ewell were understandably disappointed at falling just short of a momentous achievement, their commitment and endeavour could not be faulted. Pitted against a gritty, physical and well-drilled outfit in Worcester Park, Ewell did not surrender and battled admirably right up until the dying seconds of the game. Worcester Park came into the fixture off the back of resounding victories against a selection of sides, underlining the extent to which Ewell pushed them all the way on the night. Licking their wounds will undoubtedly take some time, but Ewell’s defeat should in no way detract from what has been a fantastic season that the players look back upon fondly.
