Ewell needed to overcome their Junior Division One opponents in order to progress into the quarter final of the Geoff Ellis Premier Shield. A strong 14-man squad meant that they had every chance of doing so, yet they did suffer a goalkeeping crisis during the week until Burr stepped up to don the gloves.

Ewell navigated a tricky tie against an extremely physical outfit who looked to move the ball forward as early as possible. Ewell deserve credit for competing for the duration of the match and ensuring that stand-in keeper Burr was rarely called upon to make a save.
