Will Chipperton22 Nov 2014 - 15:30

Match report

Preview:
Having reached the Third Round, Ewell had already entered unchartered territory before a ball had even been kicked, following a few forgettable excursions in the County Cup during recent seasons. However, after taking on all-comers and emerging victorious over the course of the 5 weeks, Ewell headed into the game with confidence and self belief.
The Match:

8

GOAL

Clancy –   Assist: Chipperton. Ewell make a lightning start to the game as Chipperton’s through   ball allows Clancy to round the keeper and tap in from close range.

14

GOAL

N. Williams –   Assist: Chipperton. Ewell double their lead as an in-swinging corner is   planted on the towering N. Williams’ head.

32

GOAL

Clancy.   After a couple of well worked team goals, Clancy extends Ewell’s lead with a   brilliant solo effort. After collecting the ball 4 yards from goal  and driving at the retreating Westend   defenders, he strokes a measured shot into the bottom corner with the outside   of his right foot.

HALF TIME – AFC Westend 0 – AFC Ewell 3

74

NEAR MISS

Ewell’s   clean sheet is just about kept intact after a free header at the back post is   unceremoniously hacked off the line.

78

GOAL

Clancy –   Assist: Stevens. Clancy dispatches a penalty after Stevens is felled in the   box.

85

CHANCE

Bullock is   played through but his effort narrowly drifts wide after rounding the   goalkeeper.

FULL TIME – AFC Westend 0  – AFC Ewell 6

The verdict:
You could be forgiven for thinking that Ewell’s 6 – 0 triumph was a walk in the park, yet the score line does not tell the whole story. However, the score line does reflect the clinical streak that Ewell displayed on the day, which, added to their highly professional team performance, meant that the players went home happy in the knowledge that they had booked their place in the next round.
