Preview:
With a prolonged and largely successful pre-season under their belts, Ewell attempted to end their opening day woes as they hosted Norbiton Dragons. Two well contested fixtures during the 2012-13 season indicated that this would be a tough ask, though Ewell entered into the game with a strong 15 man squad.

15 CHANCE Slack defending from Norbiton presents a fine opportunity for Langridge. He drives on before lashing a left footed shot over the crossbar.
24 CHANCE It’s a case of Deja-vu as Langridge again benefits from loose defensive work. After advancing into the box, his effort squirmed wide of the far post.
30 CHANCE Chipperton’s volley on the turn which draws a save from the goalkeeper.
34 CHANCE Hodge wins the ball back in dangerous territory but his lob finds the grateful hands of the retreating keeper.
38 NEAR MISS William’s just about manages to avoid turning the ball into his own net when deal with a teasing cross.
41 BOOKING Kingshott enters the book after a late challenge.
42 GOAL The resulting free kick breaks the deadlock after glancing the crossbar.

55 CHANCE Sentamu’s mazy run results in a shot which is blocked and wins a corner.
68 CHANCE Paulino dances his way through the away team’s defence but his effort is saved.
80 GOAL Clancy – Assist: Bullock. Clancy races through and fires beyond the keeper to level the game.
82 GOAL The unthinkable happens. A swift break and smart finish leave Ewell trailing once more.
86 CHANCE Williams strides forward and unleashes a fierce drives that stings the keeper’s palms. Chipperton’s follow up is then blocked.

The verdict:
Despite what was, at time, a promising performance, Ewell failed to claim the result they deserved. Crawford, Hodge, Bullock & Webster all provided inviting crosses that went unconverted in addition to the host of other chances they carved out.
