Match report

Preview:
Destiny Academy were Ewell’s opponents for their final league game of the season. A win would cement their status as champions, although this outcome could still materialise if results elsewhere were favourable.
The Match:

20

GOAL

Despite starting the game   with 9 men, Destiny make the better start to the game and deservedly take the   lead.

35

NEAR MISS

Things almost go from bad   to worse when Destiny break through Ewell’s backline and a fizzed cross   evades a final touch at the back post.

HALF   TIME – AFC Ewell 0 vs Destiny Academy 1

56

GOAL

N. Williams. Assist:   Ransom. Ransom plants a corner on N. Williams’ head at the back post a level   proceedings.

64

GOAL

Ewell’s revival suffers a   setback as Bunde is beaten by a free-kick from 25 yards out.

70

CHANCE

Clancy is hauled down in   the area and a spot kick is awarded. Unfortunately for Ewell, Ransom’s spot   kick picks out the keeper, who had elected to stand his ground in the centre   of his goal.

74

GOAL

N. Williams. Assist:   Ransom. Ransom spares his blushes by picking out N. Williams for a carbon   copy of Ewell’s first goal.

78

GOAL

Destiny retake the lead   after their striker evades 3 challenges and benefits from a fortuitous   bounce.

82

GOAL

Chasing their third   equaliser, Kingshott is dispossessed on the edge of the Ewell area and a clinical   finish kills of the hosts’ prospects of a comeback.

85

GOAL

Another composed finish   means that Ewell are on the wrong end of an emphatic score line for a change.

FULL   TIME – AFC Ewell 2 vs Destiny Academy 5

The verdict:
Ewell saved their worst league performance of the season for their final game. However, their disappointment was short lived as news of a Wanderers victory over Raynes Park Vale meant that their loss was not catastrophic. Having battled admirably all season, Ewell can be considered worthy champions. Meanwhile, Wednesday evening offers them the opportunity to claim a second piece of silverware as they lock horns with Worcester Park in the Geoff Ellis Premier Shield final.
