AFC Ewell were left disappointed to be bowing out of their second cup competition of the season by late November, as a lack of clinical finishing saw them lose 2-0 to league rivals Destiny Academy. The two teams had met earlier in the season, with Destiny teaching an inexperienced Ewell side a lesson about clinical finishing as they ran out 4-0 winners. However, since then Ewell had won every game in every competition and went into the game full of confidence, despite being without lead goalscorers Hitch and Clancy who had set the league alight in previous weeks. The game started at a frantic pace with both sides pressing high but with the Destiny frontline thwarted by the defence of Bunde, Webster, Williams, Kingshott and Sear, the early chances fell to Ewell who failed to capitalise. The tireless Davies squandered the host's best chance of the first half, as his frantic finish saw the ball fly back into the keepers hands rather than the back of the net. Elsewhere, Keogh and Chipperton were linking up well but lacked the final ball to turn the effort into goals, while Sear and Bullock both had chances cleared off the line after a series of corners. Despite this pressure, Ewell to pay for this wasteful finishing just before the break, as Destiny finally breached the otherwise solid defensive lines and fired in a low shot that left Bunde helpless.Ewell returned for the second half with the same energy and enthusiasm as the first as manager Williams demanded Ewell continue to be positive and look for the equaliser. The introduction of James Gregory saw Ewell press on further but he also became a guilty party in front of goal as he blazed over from close range after bustling his way through. Ewell were then dealt a further blow on 70 minutes as Destiny just about broke the Ewell offside trap and their striker blasted an unstoppable finish into the roof of the net. However, this did not deflate a Ewell side who had scored so many goals in recent weeks, yet open goal misses from a matter of yards from both Stroud and Davies would have left many spectators questionning how Ewell had scored so many in recent weeks; a sentiment shared by the disgusted linesman Terrington. In the end despite Ewell's best efforts they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat, but not for want of effort or chances. However, Ewell will need to find their shooting boots again quickly if they are to continue to push on in the league and one final cup competition.
