Ewell continued to turn up the heat and climbed the table further with an accomplished performance. Ewell were wary of their opponents after they beat table toppers Rollers Athletic 4-0 the previous week, and their performance showed that Ewell were indeed up to the challenge. The team talk called for an early start and early pressure and the tone was set early with some incisive breaks that lacked the final touch. However, the goal soon came after Bullock played a ball from left back that left the Epsom backline stranded, with Hitch running on and lobbing the keeper from 25 yards. Ewell seized this moment and continued to press and Hitch soon doubled his tally after a good move saw a Clancy shot saved and open goal available. Hitch then completed his 30 minute hat-trick with a wonder strike with his left foot that raced into the top corner, before debutant Gregroy opened his Ewell account with a well taken finish. Ewell demanded professionalism in the second half and met those demands when Sam Sear lept unmarked to break a long awaited goal drought. The tireless Clancy then added a tapped in 6th and Hitch added his 4th after he broke the offside trap to put Ewell 7-0 up. A bit of slack marking cost Ewell their clean sheet but the Manager could not be mad after such a fantastic performance. A depleted Ewell side will look to continue this fine run vs Cheam Village Warriors on Saturday, but know this will be a tough game where the strength and depth of the squad will be very much needed.
